When Paula first contacted me she said that there were two things she wanted most from her Newborn photography session. The first was to capture her wonderful blended family, making sure that Adelaide’s older siblings Cairo and Sinead had a chance to be there and snuggle their new baby sister. The second was some beautiful images of her and baby Adelaide together.
It’s a familiar story for so many mums. We love our babies so fiercely. For many it’s a bumpy road bringing them into the world. So we’d like nothing more than to hold them in our arms and breathe in that sweet scent endlessly. But more often than not we’re passing them to family and friends and stepping behind the camera to capture their important meetings and moments with others.
If there’s one thing I hope to do for other mothers it’s to prove that you were there too. I want to give you the time and space to simply breathe in that beautiful newborn smell. To snuggle your baby tightly and really take in their long lashes, their tiny perfect fingers and itsy button nose. And then I want to capture those sweet moments. For you, and for them.
Paula I hope that’s what I’ve done for you here. Because you clearly love that little girl so much, and I want her to know that you were there for her, always. Through the tough days where there were more tears over wind than there were smiles, and the long nights when she wouldn’t sleep.
Chris, thank you too for inviting me in to capture your incredible family. I have no doubt that Adelaide is going to grow up surrounded by so much love and support.
