This organic newborn session is a prime example of why I love lifestyle family photography. The day I visited this family little Sophie was deep into her first round of cluster feeding and cat-napping. It’s a pattern that second time mums like Megan can already see coming (whether you like it or not). My personal opinion is that it’s not worth fighting that need to be held. Because if the most comfortable place for a newborn to be is their mum or dad’s arms then who am I to deny them that refuge? No, instead I’d rather let things unfold naturally. Capture the hugs and the laughter and the carefully guided “gentle pats” as they happen. After all this is the magic of your family growing. No amount of posing and wrapping is going to make that any more shiny. It’s beautiful, and perfect, just the way it is.
Megan and Andrew, thank you so much for inviting me to capture these moments with your family. Euan was such a delight with his game of “hide and seek the baby” and Sophie is just a delicious little treasure. I hope you love this record of our morning together.
