One of the perks of being a newborn photographer is that you get invited to play a small part in one of the most special, memorable moments in a person’s life; the arrival of their child. It doesn’t matter if it’s their first, their third or their fifth, it’s always a monumental time.
For me it’s even more special when the mother or father is someone I’ve know “pre-parenthood”. That was the case with Cecelia, whose mum Emma was a classmate and friend back in the days when having kids was a VERY far off notion.
Emma joked with me that her mum was excited to finally have another raven-haired lady in the family after a string of light haired little ones. But where Cecelia didn’t break from the family mould was in her petite frame. All the babies in the family had been slight, and at a whisper over 6pounds little Cecelia is no exception. Although she was doing her best to make up for it with a ferocious appetite the day I visited. Hence, we have a wide variety of awesome “don’t mess with me, I’m hangry” shots, mixed in with some very serene images of this sweet wee girl!
There is no doubt that little Cecelia has been welcomed into a very loving and protective family. And there is also no doubting that she’s daddy’s little girl (daddy by the way seems to have mastered baby whispering in just a matter of days).
Emma and Mike, thank you so much for inviting me to share this very special time. It was so lovely to catch up and to hear about the romance and history that lead to this moment in your family’s story.
