This dainty poppet took her time to arrive after a very long labour in the comfort of a home lovingly prepared by her parents. In the end it was a fairly dramatic entrance into the world - and I suspect she’ll hold centre stage for many years to come!
When I came to visit Edie was almost 3 weeks old. Despite being mid-January the Christmas tree was still up - a celebration of her festive arrival date. Doting dad Shaun was keen to mark the importance of that time - the moment when everything changed. Where he fell head over heels for this little lady.
When I photograph newborns it’s really important to me to capture plenty of images of a new mother with her little one. I do this because so often it’s mum who has taken the early photos of her new baby being snuggled by all the visiting guests, or lying skin on skin with their doting dads, or making adorable squishy baby faces. But rarely does mum get to see herself in the frame, celebrating her incredible connection. So Kirsty I hope that you love this record of the beautiful connection between you and the baby girl you are nurturing.
Shaun and Kirsty, thank you so much for inviting me into the hazy cocoon of new love and life in your home. I loved capturing your family story as it begins to unfold.
