This past weekend I had the pleasure photographing little miss Emmie Garland for her Fresh48 session. She was a mere 24 hours old when I met her and her family at Birthcare.
There’s something truly magical about taking lifestyle newborn photos in those first two days. Everyone is still in that slightly eerie cocoon of newness. It’s like those snug post-natal suites are an incubator for the purest form of love, adoration and amazement.
That love, and the desire for closeness and comfort were palpable in this room. Not just for little Emmie, but amongst her older siblings too. They’d each had a promotion, to “biggest sister” and “big brother” respectively, and were figuring out how to adjust to their new roles. I can certainly see there are going to be LOTS of snuggles in Emmie’s future.
The photos here are a sneak peek at the moments that we captured on Sunday, it might have been a relatively small room, but there was plenty of magic happening there.
Jodi and Mark – thank you so much for allowing me into the privacy of your birthcare suite so that I could get to know your gorgeous family. I am so looking forward to seeing you all again soon for your in-home session!
