One of my favourite things to see when I walk into a family’s home is photos on the walls. Not just piled up on a hard drive somewhere or floating about in the cloud, but actually printed and framed to be enjoyed. So it was a delight to walk into the home of the Sextus family and see their last decade documented throughout the house. It was my special privilege to contribute to that living, breathing record of this family’s story.
On the day I visited excitement was in the air. Emma and her dad were about to embark on a daddy-daughter camping trip, leaving the boys to keep mum busy for the weekend. So in preparation we practiced what a tiger sounds like (you know, just in case Emma had to scare away unwanted visitors at camp). All that roaring ensured new baby Jack was well and truly awake and ready to get amongst the action. So then we snuggled and we played and we toured the garden until the mid summer heat took it’s toll and our time together came to a grinding halt because of the urgent need for popsicles.
That’s exactly how I’d have it too. This is life. Real life with three under five. That’s the beauty of lifestyle photography. It’s your chance to freeze this chapter in your life. In all it’s playful, unpredictable glory.
Amanda and Warwick, thank you so much for inviting me to capture the latest chapter in your story. I sincerely hope you love this record of our morning together.
